About One Small Step

Words and Music by Ken Grubb

New man, guitarist Ken, wanted to celebrate the triumph of the Moon landings and gave us “One Small Step.” The rhythm is tricksy and unusual. Try dancing to this and you’ll find out how hard it was to walk on the Moon, with all the inertia of a full space suit and 1/6 gravity.

Lyrics

Took our first step on the Moon
Emerging from the earth’s cocoon
Spread our wings and learn to fly
And the gods I heard them cry:

Chorus:
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven
One more step on the way to heaven
A giant leap on the way to find
A universe for all mankind

Spread the message, spread the word
Mankind’s greatest must be heard
Soon there will be life on Mars
Reaching out to all the stars

Chorus
Instrumental
Chorus

Red or yellow, black or white
Reaching out from endless night
The human race has come of age
Time to turn another page
